Year R Parent phonics/reading workshop (3.30pm - 4.30pm)

Phonics and Early Reading Parent Workshop

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to invite you to attend our upcoming parent workshop on phonics and early

reading on Wednesday 18th September at 3:30pm. At West Tytherley Primary School, we use Little Wandle as our systematic, synthetic phonics (SSP) programme to teach early reading and spelling. This meeting will explore why learning to read is so important, the details of how your child will learn to read and the importance of them reading fully decodable books. We will also give suggestions how you can support your child’s reading journey at home.

We strongly encourage parents of reception children (and any Year 1 parents who did not come last year) to attend the workshop in order to be able to ask any questions and in order that we can clearly explain the programme. There will be written materials, however these may not be as helpful, without the context of the meeting.

We understand that some parents may not be able to attend but will be providing childcare for all children of school age. We do not expect the meeting to last more than 45 minutes.

Please fill in the slip below and return to school by Friday 6th September to confirm your

attendance.

Kind regards,

Miss Ayers
